🏴 🏴 Who stood for truth? Sorting Activity

The story of Karbala is not only about a battle—it is about choosing between truth and falsehood. This sorting activity encourages children to think carefully about the people they have learnt about and identify who stood with Imam Husayn (a.s.) and who stood against him.

Children begin by cutting out each name card before sorting them into the "Good Army" and "Bad Army" columns. As they work, they naturally revisit the stories of the personalities they have learnt about, helping to reinforce their understanding in a meaningful and interactive way.

This activity is a great opportunity to discuss questions such as:

🤔 Why did Imam Husayn (a.s.) refuse to give allegiance to Yazid?

❤️ What qualities did the companions of Imam Husayn (a.s.) show?

🌟 What can we learn from those who chose truth, even when it was difficult?

Children will practise:

✂️ Cutting and sorting skills.

🧠 Memory and recall.

📖 Recognising key personalities from Karbala.

💬 Discussion and critical thinking.

This activity also reminds children that people are remembered not because they were powerful, but because of the choices they made. The companions of Imam Husayn (a.s.) chose faith, loyalty, courage, and obedience to Allah, while those who opposed him are remembered for turning away from justice and truth.

By learning about these personalities, children begin to understand that every day we are faced with choices too. We should always strive to stand with honesty, kindness, and justice—following the example of Imam Husayn (a.s.) and his loyal companions. 🏴🤍
