Help children discover that the greatest treasures are not the ones we hold in our hands, but the beautiful qualities we grow inside our hearts. 💎
The companions of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saww) showed many wonderful qualities through the way they lived, served and supported him. As children learn about them, this Virtue Mirror Craft encourages them to look at themselves and think:
“Which of these qualities can I grow in me?”

This activity is best used alongside our Companions of the Light card game, as it reinforces the virtues children discover while learning about the true companions of the Holy Prophet (saww).
After playing the game and learning about the different companions, children can use their Virtue Mirror to reflect:
Which of their beautiful qualities would I like to grow in myself?
It turns the learning from the card game into something personal — helping children move from learning about good character to trying to live it themselves. 🌱
Around the mirror are seven special Virtue Gems:

📖 Wisdom – learning, thinking and making good choices
💛 Loyalty – standing by those we love and what we believe in
🤲 Service – helping and serving others
🕊️ Patience – staying calm and strong when things are difficult

✂️ How to Make Your Virtue Mirror
Print the activity onto card or thick paper.
Let the children colour and decorate their mirror frame and handle.
Cut carefully around the outside of the mirror and then remove the large circle in the centre.
Stick silver mirror card, reflective paper or foil behind the opening so the child can see their reflection.
Next comes the most important part…
Ask the child to look into the mirror and choose ONE virtue they would really like to work on.

Use the craft as a chance to talk together:
Which virtue did you choose?
Why did you choose it?
Which companion showed this quality?
What could you do this week to practise it?
Children can even write or draw one action they will do to grow their chosen virtue on the back of their mirror.
For example:
“I chose generosity, so I will share something I love.”
“I chose patience, so I will try not to get angry when I have to wait.”
“I chose service, so I will help at home without being asked.”
The finished mirror can then be kept somewhere visible as a little daily reminder:
The real challenge is to collect these qualities inside ourselves.
May our children learn about the beautiful people who surrounded and supported the Holy Prophet (saww), be inspired by their character, and work towards growing those same virtues within themselves. ❤️

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (saww) taught us that Islam is not only about what we know, but also about the kind of person we become. He said, “I was sent only to perfect noble character.” His mission was to guide people towards the very best akhlaq — kindness, honesty, patience, generosity, courage, loyalty and service to others. These are the same beautiful qualities we see shining through the lives of his true companions. As we learn about them, we are reminded that our own challenge is to grow these virtues within ourselves and become people of beautiful character, just as the Holy Prophet (saww) taught us to be.
