Father’s Day Imam Ali Necktie Card Craft

Celebrate Father’s Day while remembering the beautiful qualities of Imam Ali (a) with this meaningful and interactive necktie card. Children create a shirt-style card with a pull-down tie, decorated with messages of love and appreciation for their dad or a father figure.

What you need

  • Printed necktie card template

  • Card or thick paper (A4 works best)

  • Colouring pens, crayons, or pencils

  • Scissors

  • Glue stick or tape

  • Optional: stickers, gems, glitter

How to make it

1. Colour the template
Let children colour the shirt, collar, and tie. Encourage bright colours and personal touches. They can decorate the tie with patterns or add stickers and gems.

2. Cut out the pieces
Carefully cut around the outer shape of the card and the tie. Adult supervision may be needed for younger children.

3. Fold the shirt card
Fold along the main centre line to create the card base.
Then fold the collar pieces outward along the dashed lines so they overlap slightly at the front like a real shirt.

4. Attach the tie
Glue the top of the tie just under the collar so it can hang down the front.
When the card closes, the collar should sit neatly over the tie.

5. Add the message inside
Children can write or trace a special message such as:

  • “You are my hero!”

  • “Happy Father’s Day”

  • “Imam Ali (a) taught us bravery, kindness, and caring for our family.”

6. Personalise it
Encourage children to:

  • Draw hearts

  • Write their dad’s name

  • Add a du‘a or loving message

Faith connection

This craft is inspired by the noble character of Imam Ali (a), who showed courage, kindness, and deep care for his family and community. He was the ultimate superhero, saving the day when Islam needed him most. Father’s Day is a beautiful time to reflect on these values and appreciate the fathers and role models in our lives.

Learning benefits

  • Fine motor skills (cutting, folding, gluing)

  • Creativity and self-expression

  • Emotional connection and gratitude

  • Islamic values and role-model learning

This simple but meaningful activity makes a lovely keepsake and helps children express love, appreciation, and admiration for their “Super Dad.”
